Background of the Study

Business sustainability strategies focus on ensuring long-term business growth while addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges. Multinational corporations like Nestlé Nigeria have global sustainability frameworks, shaped by international standards and practices, while indigenous firms such as BUA Group implement strategies that are often influenced by local economic and cultural contexts. Nestlé Nigeria, as part of a global organization, is committed to sustainability initiatives such as environmental conservation, waste management, and social investments aligned with global sustainability goals. On the other hand, BUA Group, a significant player in the Nigerian industrial sector, has sustainability strategies that focus on local community development, environmental stewardship, and long-term business growth in the context of Nigeria’s unique challenges.

This study aims to compare the business sustainability strategies of Nestlé Nigeria and BUA Group in Kwara State, with a focus on their approach to environmental sustainability, corporate governance, and community development. The research will assess how both multinational and indigenous firms integrate sustainability into their core operations and the impact of these strategies on their long-term success and public image in Kwara State.
